Specular map

While texturing:
group in photoshop - select layers press shift and press create new group make it Pass Through or Normal, then add mask to group copy for ex. metal picture(to get into mask click Alt) then Ctrl+L to use levels to make it looks better.
You can add strokes - new layer then select with control for ex. that group metal mask then edit and stroke.

If you normal map bake something dont keep couple of objects in the same place bcos it will bake on that little objects and whole on one bigger that is close, just separate objects far away during baking to not make double baking some object its not estetic.
If you making low poly after high supsurf you can make separate objects and no need to weld them, just stick them together and Ctrl+J it...

add object
Shift+F1 find blender file go to object and imoport filename same as blender file.
maps
Into object add diffuse map (AO map + adding colors etc..) and add normal map.
smooth and flat
If object is rounded, make sure smooth is set in shading settings (T hotkey) if not, make sure flat is set.
Simple :)
Mirror:
Shift+D to duplicate then Ctrl+M mirrors selected (check normals after mirror)
Apply mirror and then bake (if don’t you will have seam visible)

Make grey boxes game, no extra textures or modeling and rigging, make it playable! not just another good looking graphics crapy gameplay experience, then make one level using kismet and find more people to help.
